Since 1960, the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament has been the tournament every 12-year-old hockey player hopes to reach. Team Maryland has been invited to the 2027 edition — the 67th.
Nine days that players remember for the rest of their lives
- Held every February in Quebec City, one of the most storied stages in youth hockey. Games are played at Centre Vidéotron, an NHL-caliber arena.
- Recognized by the NHL as the world’s largest and oldest international pee-wee tournament, drawing teams from across North America, Europe and beyond.
- For the first time, players experience international competition, cultural exchanges, and the pageantry of Quebec’s Winter Carnival tradition — memories that last a lifetime and a formative step in their competitive hockey journey.
What the Kids Actually Do
Beyond the games themselves, the tournament is built around the experience of being a young player abroad:
- Opening ceremonies and a march-in with teams from around the world
- Games on NHL-caliber ice in front of real crowds
- Billeting and team activities alongside players who speak other languages
- Quebec City’s Winter Carnival — toboggan run, ice sculptures, the Ice Palace
- Team meals, team travel, and nine days of living like a pro

One of the greatest talent pipelines in hockey history
More than 1,500 tournament alumni have gone on to play in the NHL or WHA since 1960.
The modern era
Connor Bedard, Auston Matthews and Juraj Slafkovsky all skated in Quebec as pee-wees before becoming first-round NHL talent.
The legends
Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux both played in the tournament — two of the most recognizable names in the history of the sport.
